image Welcome to K5!

My name is Mrs. Lynn Garrow and I have been teaching for 26 years. I have three children of my own so I can relate to parenthood and the challenges associated with raising children. I have taught K4-4th grade in my career and loved them all. I have been teaching K5 for the past 5 years. I have high standards for myself as well as for my students. We are going to have so much fun this year in kindergarten!  We will make new friends, play, learn, sing, dance, paint and much much more!  My class is designed to help each child develop and grow at their own individual level.

In our classroom everyone is a STAR!  Children will be given the opportunity to reach for the stars by providing clear and accessible instruction in practical, meaningful ways.

Children will have the opportunity to practice concepts and/or skills through a variety of hands-on learning centers.  Centers are set up to incorporate vairous levels that can be adapted to differentiate learning to help each child succeed at their appropriate level.

Communication is the key to having a successful year.  I hope that if your child enters my K5 program we can become partners and work together to help train your child in the ways of the Lord as well as to get a good start to becoming successful lifetime learners!

Homework

Homework

The Orange Homework Folder goes home at the beginning of most school weeks.  It is then due back the last school day of that week.  If school goes through Friday then it will be due back on Friday.  If  it is a short week and the last day is Thursday then it will be due on Thursday.  There may be some weeks that we do not have any homework due to a 3-day week.

Homework that is not returned by the due date will be considered late.  If it is not turned in then the homework must be completed during recess time.

All homework must be signed in the upper right hand corner by a parent.  All pages must be signed or initialed.

Reading Folder

Our Purple Reading Folders will also go home with the Homework Folder every Monday.  Pleae help your child read all the books in the folder and return them to school by the last day of that week along with the Homework Folder.

Independent Reading Program

We all develop at our own pace.  As the year progresses I will start some children on an Independent Reading Program.  This is a program designed to help a child advance to the highest level of reading that they are able to achieve at this time.  One of two additional books will then be included in their Reading Folder.   Please do not send these books back until they can read them fluently.  They will then be tested on those books and proceed onto the next level if successfully completed.  Books will get progressively harder as the level increases.
