We have been working hard getting the procedures of the classroom down pat. We are learning how to do problems on paper instead of writing in our textbooks. We are getting pretty good at putting things down on paper. I am proud of how quickly they have some along with this.

Things keep looking up!
In Math we are learining about place value. We have covered all the way through hundred thousands. Soon we will have our test on this chapter and move on to the next chapter which is comparing numbers.
In Reading this week, we read a story about a boy who saved his dog off a mountain during a storm. We learned a lot about rock climbing and how adventurous and dangerous it can be.
In Religion we talked about Adam and Eve and the Garden of Eden. We also talked about the first sin and the effec it had on Adam an Eve but also on all of us. What a loving God we have who would send His only Son to die so that we can live eternally! We have also been talking about apostles. Apostles are believers who have been sent out on a specific mission. We are all apolstles because the Lord has called all of us to "teach all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit.
For Science we have been studying habitats and God's design of animals to fit into the habitat that He had planned for them. We will be studying the different boimes on the earth. We will start with deserts.
In Social Studies we are learning what it takes for a community to run well. We have been looking a Raleigh, North Carolina and comparing it to Milwaukee. We have done some map skills and learned about intermediate directions (northwest, southeast, etc.)
We had our first spelling test with all 12 sentences! I haven't graded them yet but I am optomistic.
We are reviewing sentence writing and how to be better writers as well. We also had our first choir rehearsal and what a rehearsal it was! I have some wonderful singers in my 3rd, 4th, and 5th grade choir. We are also working on the basics for music reading so that we can start playing songs on our Boomwhackers!
Well, this should keep you updated for now. Remember there is no school on Monday, September 7th for Labor Day. Have a wonderful and relaxing weekend as you spend time with family and friends.
Yours in Him,
Mrs. Hope Krause
